The Mourning Dove remains one of our most abundant birds with a United States population estimated at 350 million.
I was Truely Honored when the Dove Sportsman's Society chose this image to be a National Conservation Stamp. I was equally Honored to be the Dove Sportsman's Society's 'Artist Of The Year'. I really enjoyed painting this Pastel of a Mourning Dove getting a drink of water while a pair of White Wing Dove watch. Doves are such a recognizable Song Bird with their unmistakable 'Cooing'. Backyard Birds are so much fun to watch!
