The Gray Wolf or Grey Wolf, also known as the Timber Wolf or simply Wolf, is the largest wild member of the Canidae family. It is an ice age survivor originating around 300,000 years ago. Though once abundant, the Gray Wolf inhabits a very small portion of its former range because of widespread destruction of its habitat, human encroachment of its habitat, and the resulting human-wolf encounters. Humans historically have had a complex and varied viewpoint of wolves. In many parts of the world, wolves were respected and revered, while in others they were feared and held in distaste. Many Native Americans feel that the Wolf lives within their Heart and Soul and that the Wolf is a Kindred Spirit.

I painted this Wolf in a Snowstorm. They Eye is so INTENSE in its Focus. It is the "Eye Of The Storm". My Love of Wildlife Art and Wolves made this Pastel Painting a Joy. Every Hair and every Snowflake leads to the Heart of the painting, which is the EYE. Is the Gray Wolf cautiously watching a Cougar, Hungarily stalking a Deer or Elk, or about to Playfully Pounce on a Pack Member?
