There are some 2,000 species of Starfish living in all the world's oceans, from tropical habitats to the cold seafloor. The five-arm varieties are the most common, hence their name, but species with 10, 20, and even 40 arms exist. Marine Scientists have undertaken the difficult task of replacing the beloved Starfish common name with Sea Star because the Starfish is not a Fish. The average lifespan of a Starfish in the wild is up to 35 years.
The Split View of Crashing Ocean Waves and Flying Seagulls above, with Starfish, Sea Anemone, and Mussels clinging to the rocks below, made this a really fun Pastel Seascape to paint. I enjoy the Beach and all of the Wildlife in and around it.
